As of 1 November 2014, TPMS legislation is laid down in the European directives ECE-R64. This means that from then on, every new car sold must be equipped by the factory with a TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring) system. This can be done in two ways, by the well-known ABS system or by internal sensors in the wheel. The latter is the most accurate system because the TPMS sensor in the wheel measures the situation at that moment. ABS only measures the rolling circumference and will react in case of a deviation. From the moment this legislation comes into force on a car, the warning light cannot and should not be switched off.

From May 2018, TPMS is part of the new MOT requirements. For new cars delivered from 1 January 2018, a TPMS system not working is a rejection point. For cars sold new until 31 December 2017 whose TPMS system is not working , it is an advisory point.

Stahlie Impex is an importer of the OE TPMS brands of BHSens, VDO and Schrader. Exclusively, Stahlie Impex has the TPMS brands TWS and Z-Sensor.
